Bernard “Beloyd” Taylor was an American R&B songwriter, multi-instrumentalist (mainly guitar and percussion) and vocalist born on September 7, 1952 in Cleveland, OH. Taylor joined S.O.U.L. in 1972 and was a touring member of Earth, Wind & Fire in 1981/1982 (co-writing “Getaway”). He died in Cleveland on January 13, 2014. In 1977 he recorded an album for 20th Century Records, but only these two songs came out that year on 7”. Original copies sell from £300-£500 and this 2025 issue on Expansion is the first reissue on 7”. We all need to wait longer to know whether we will ever get to hear the full album (despite one acetate pressing that exists, believed to be in Japan). Beloyd also wrote “Lover’s Touch” for Chaka Khan.
