Park Place: The Invisible Man - EP |
|
We
have featured this Leicester based stable’s product frequently
on this page and in general we like the material that they license.
Aimed mainly at the ever-buoyant “real” soul, which is the
newer sister to northern soul. Modern soul was the break away scene
from northern, instigated by bored soul fans that were sick of hearing
the same “oldies” on the all-nighter scene. FER release
soul that will satisfy the most die-hard soul fan and this latest offering
keeps the quality control at a high level. Bonnie Boyer dishes up the
vocal on the first of two dancers called “Just Like Magic”.
Darrell Black leans into “Splashing”, perhaps a little dated
but soulful nonetheless. There are two ballads in the shape of “Show
Me” and the excellent “Invisible Man” featuring T.
Marvin, produced by Paul Tillman and Norman Connors, possibly the legendary
drummer who recorded some amazing soul and jazz for Buddah Records back
in the day. I know he still records and produces so there is a chance
that this is the man.
